Don’t Envy Me

Don’t envy me

Don’t envy me, for I am human too.

Don’t envy me, for my status or reputation

Don’t envy me, for the love people have given me

Don’t envy me, for my successes and promotions

Don’t envy me, for my genetics or health

Take a step and notice the sacrifice that was required. Quiet desperation for help.

Take a step and notice the tears when I was surrounded by the same people who have given their love.

Take a step and notice the tears when I was in the rain near the shoreline with no one in sight.

Take a step and notice the long hours into my craft and vocation.

Take a step and notice the time sacrificed away from loved ones.

Take a step and notice that my battles are not over and life has not surrendered itself.

Don’t envy me, for I am human too

Don’t envy me, for there were superior humans and I know they’re far worse off than me

Don’t envy me, for I was called to serve

Take a step and walk with me.

Take a step and work with me; to learn from me

Take a step if you are my friend; to grow with me

Take a step if you are family; to love with me

Take a step if you are a stranger; to get to know me

Don’t envy me for I share your negative emotions too.
